African Film and Audiovisual Market regulations — FESPACO 2027

MICA is organized as part of the editions of the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).

It is a framework for meetings, promotion, and exchanges open to cinematographic and audiovisual works, as well as to film and audiovisual professionals from around the world.

Article 1

The purpose of these regulations is to define the conditions for the organization, operation, and participation of film and audiovisual professionals in MICA.

Article 2

The 23rd edition of the International Market for African Cinema and Audiovisual Media (MICA) will be held from February 28 to March 5, 2027.

Article 3

MICA is structured around the following activities:

Participation in MICA implies full acceptance of these regulations.

Article 4

Registration of films and companies in the FESPACO PRO/MICA catalogue, as well as stand rental, must be completed no later than December 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. on the platform by clicking here.

The documents required for registration (in French and English) are:

  • one (1) biofilmography of the director (maximum 400 characters);
  • two (2) film posters in portrait and landscape format, JPEG, 300 dpi;
  • a download and viewing link for the film, or episodes for series, in MPEG-4 (H.264) format, valid until March 31, 2027;
  • a photo of the director (JPEG format, 300 dpi);
  • three (3) film stills (portrait and landscape, JPEG format, 300 dpi);
  • full addresses and contacts (WhatsApp contact, phone numbers, email, website, etc.).

Registration fees for films and companies in the FESPACO PRO/MICA catalogue are set at thirty-two thousand seven hundred ninety-eight (32,798) CFA francs, i.e. fifty (50) euros, or the equivalent in US dollars, per film or per company.

This amount is non-refundable.

Article 5

Registration of films for on-demand screening must be completed no later than February 15, 2027, on the platform by clicking here.

The documents required for registering films for on-demand screening (in French and English) are:

  • one (1) biofilmography of the director (maximum 400 characters);
  • a download and viewing link for the film, or episodes for series, in MPEG-4 (H.264) format, valid until March 31, 2027, or a copy of the film on a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

Film screening fees are set at thirty-two thousand seven hundred ninety-eight (32,798) CFA francs, i.e. fifty (50) euros, or the equivalent in US dollars, per hour.

Any hour started is due. This non-refundable amount must be paid in advance.

Article 6

Registration for the MICA pavilion must be completed online no later than January 15, 2027, by clicking here.

Registration for the MICA pavilion is reserved for companies, institutions, and associations working in the fields of cinema, audiovisual media, and animated images.

The rental cost of each stand with an area of nine (9) m² is five hundred thousand (500,000) CFA francs, i.e. seven hundred sixty-three (763) euros, or the equivalent in US dollars.

However, no organization may receive more than four (4) stands, i.e. thirty-six (36) m².

Under this latter condition, transfer fees are borne by the applicant. A copy of the transfer receipt must be sent to the head of the FESPACO-PRO/MICA committee.

Article 7

Any registration with FESPACO PRO/MICA entitles the registrant to visibility on FESPACO PRO/MICA communication materials.

Article 8

The shipment and return shipment of film copies are the responsibility of the director, producer, or distributor.

Any package sent by an express transport company must have all transport costs and any customs duties and taxes fully paid. Otherwise, FESPACO reserves the right to refuse the package.

FESPACO declines all responsibility in the event of routing errors or damage resulting from the transportation of films.

FESPACO cannot be held responsible for deterioration resulting from the initial poor condition of the copies.

Article 9

Rental of a stand includes access to the electrical network, two (2) Professional badges, one (1) table and two (2) chairs, an Internet connection, access to the B2B lounge, and other amenities.

Any additional badge is at the expense of the stand tenant and must be paid for at the ABCA Principal Accountant’s office for cash and securities.

Article 10

Access to MICA is conditional upon presentation of one (1) badge.

Article 11

The Director General of ABCA has jurisdiction over any dispute relating to the interpretation and application of the clauses of these regulations.

Amicable settlement remains the preferred means of resolving any dispute.

Article 12

Only the French version of these regulations is legally authoritative.

Article 13

All matters not provided for in these regulations fall under the authority of the Director General of ABCA.
